Growing up in the 50’s, our family attended the Methodist church. One of the hymns we often sang was Onward Christian Soldiers. The other day I was looking at one of the verses of Onward Christian Soldiers.
“At the shout of triumph, Satan’s host will flee. Onward Christian Soldiers, on to Victory. Hell’s foundation quiver at the sound of praise, Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthem raise.”
We can praise our way out of fear, depression, discouragement, disappointments and personal despair! Let’s look at 2 Chronicles 20:22.
“As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against [those] who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”
Bible scholars believe God employed a host of angels to come and confuse the enemy camp, but victory did not come until they began to sing praises to the Lord. We can sing our way through every battle the enemy sends our way. Our ability to overcome any adversity is determined by our response to spiritual warfare and the attempt by Satan to finish us off. As you praise, remember that Psalms 22:3 tells us God dwells in the praises of His people. When praise goes up, the angels come down; the demons go out, fleeing in panic.
